Dressing Tips for the
Festival of Onam

Onam is one among the most popular festivals of Kerala. There are so many cultural traditions and practices involved with this grand festival. This festival is celebrated as harvest festival with lots of enthusiasm wherein there are exciting boat races, all decorations with flowers called pookolams, mouth watering feast called Onasadya, Mundu saree or kerala sari clad women dancing thiruvathirakali and fierce men portraying the dramatic kathakali dance, Onam is nothing short of an extravagant fest.

Among all these celebrations, it’s also important to dress up in beautiful ethnic wears on this day. The traditional dress code followed during the festivals are basically a white, off white or cream saree with a golden border commonly called as Kerala Saree or Kerala Saree for women and Men with white-colored mundu or dhoti with kasavu border combined with a shirt or kurta is the favourite of all men.

For Women

The Set mundu andKerala sarees is the traditional dress of Kerala. Every women love to have draped themselves in this attire on the occasion of Onam. These elegant sarees are usually in White or Off white colour.
